Thanks to a recent anonymous donation of £250,000 and a £400,000 grant from Arts Council England; The Hastings Contemporary formerly known as the Jerwood Gallery has reopened to the public.
Hastings Contemporary will have a refreshed curatorial direction under Jerwood Gallery’s founding Director, Liz Gilmore and an expanded programme exploring all forms of modern and contemporary art. On show will include work from British painter Roy Oxlade, Danish artist Tan R and Hastings local Sir Quentin Blake. Since opening in 2012, the gallery has welcomed more than 300,000 visitors and was nominated for the Museum of the Year prize in 2014.
We worked closely with Rose Design to implement the new rebrand which also included building conservation management and planning applications.
Hastings Contemporary will reflect the town’s independent spirit, drawing on the rich artistic heritage of Hastings and the South East.
