Congratulations to The Lanesborough who have been awarded the No.1 Hotel in London in the Travel & Leisure World’s Best Awards for the second year running. The hotel was also the highest placed London hotel in the Top 100 Hotels in the World and featured as the third Best City Hotel in Europe.
Overlooking the gardens of Buckingham Palace, between Mayfair, Belgravia and Kensington. Just a short work from Harrods and the designer boutiques of Sloane Street, the hotel is home to 93 luxurious suites and bedrooms, Michelin-starred restaurant, the vibrant Library Bar and Garden Room and the magnificent Lanesborough Club and Spa.
Working in collaboration with design partners Rose, we developed the signage and wayfinding throughout the hotel following an inspired renovation by the famed interior designer Alberto Pinto.
For a hotel of this reputation and calibre, attention to detail is everything. Individual brass letter characters were laser cut and machine polished to achieve a slightly rounded edge. They were then left to age and oxidise to give the brass a warm red tone. Finally the characters were hand-polished and clear lacquered to achieve the perfect result.
The Lanesborough typeface was redrawn specifically for the signage to maximise legibility and refinement.
