London City Island is a 5 hectare micro-Manhattan on a peninsula where the Thames meets the River Lea. Four minutes from Canary Wharf and 20 minutes from central London, when complete it will comprise over 1700 apartments, art galleries, creative, retail and office space connected by walkways and open spaces. It will be home to the new headquarters of the English National Ballet and the London Film School.
Glen Howells Architects have introduced a distinctive and strong, yet simple design. Apartments are designed with a warehouse aesthetic that takes inspiration from contemporary waterside cityscapes around the world.
We are tasked with delivering the island external wayfinding strategy and signage design scheme. Our challenge is to ensure signage and wayfinding interventions sit appropriately in both residential and urban environments and sympathetic to the local resident.
